Kynžvart Castle
Castle Kynžvart became famous above all as the summer residence of the Austrian Foreign Minister and Chancellor Prince von Metternich (1773-1859).
At the end of the 17th century, a Baroque castle was built on the site of the Renaissance fortress, which later underwent an Empire reconstruction. The castle includes an extensive castle park, outbuildings and a brewery. Kynžvart Castle has recently undergone a complete renovation and visitors can now admire its truly magnificent interiors. Valuable exhibits include, for example, the chancellor's library, which is one of the most important noble libraries in the country. Another attraction is the cabinet of curiosities and objects of famous personalities that the prince has acquired during his long career.
